EXODUS: THE ARCHIMEDES ENGINE will explore the new universe at the center of the recently announced sci-fi action-adventure role-playing game from Archetype Entertainment, EXODUS. The new video game is set 40,000 years in the future; humanity has fled a dying Earth finding a new home in a hostile galaxy—here, we are the underdogs fighting for survival. This riveting novel will immerse readers in a thrilling, action-packed, sci-fi epic that spans generations in the futuristic video game universe of EXODUS.

‘I’ve been a published author for thirty years now, and most of my books are space operas. I write in that part of the genre because it enables grand ideas to flourish. Yet this book is different for me. I’ve never written anything this far into the future before. The fact that it’s set in AD 43,000 was the main reason I signed on to the project. It granted me the ability to explore places, societies, and technology right out there on the edge of the fantastical. No science fiction author could resist the opportunity to push their imagination out to the kind of extreme that this timeframe allows. Simply writing it was a wonderful experience, which you’ll hopefully share when you read it,’ states Peter F. Hamilton.

‘I have been a huge fan of Peter F. Hamilton since his earliest novels,’ said James Ohlen, Co-Founder and Executive Creative Director for Archetype Entertainment. ‘He creates fantastic science-fiction worlds, with a level of detail that transports the reader to the center of an action-packed story that feels so real, it blurs the lines between our world and his. I am thrilled to have him as a partner on EXODUS helping us to create this new sci-fi video game world for the EXODUS franchise that will engage players for years to come.’

In addition to authoring this duology, Hamilton is a creative consultant on the EXODUS video game. ‘The story of EXODUS: THE ARCHIMEDES ENGINE takes place in the same universe as the EXODUS role-playing game,’ Hamilton says, ‘featuring the kind of problems, technologies, and challenges that characters will experience inside the game. However, the novel isn’t telling the story of the game itself. The events in the novel take place many lightyears away from the star system featured in the game, but still provide a view of the kinds of missions and encounters a player will be facing in the game. Brace yourself, it’s not going to be easy.’

Publisher Bella Pagan enthuses: ‘The sheer scale of Peter’s epic far-future adventure is entirely breathtaking. No science fiction fan will want to miss out on this extraordinary journey into the unknown.’

Tor UK will publish EXODUS: THE ARCHIMEDES ENGINE in print, digital and audio formats on 19th September 2024.
