Children’s Rights
The Children’s Rights Department is responsible for licensing rights, including merchandising, TV & Film and theatrical rights, across the whole of the Pan Macmillan children’s publishing division, Macmillan Children’s Books (MCB), including the Campbell, Kingfisher, and Two Hoots imprints, as well as Priddy and Neon Squid.
MCB is one of the UK’s leading children’s publishers; we have been creating and publishing exciting stories for over 150 years and continue to acquire and publish future classics of tomorrow for the global market. We are the number one picture book imprint in the UK and are proud to publish best-selling and prize-winning authors and illustrators, including Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Rod Campbell, Chris Riddell, Emily Gravett, Frances Hardinge, M.G Leonard and Rob Biddulph.
We do multiple deals for all our titles where we have rights and our top internationally sold title is The Gruffalo, where we have sold over 105 languages and dialects around the world.
As part of the Holtzbrinck Publishing family, we work closely with our sister companies around the world, as well as a wide range of other publishers in order to find the best match for our titles. We work directly with publishers across Europe and the Americas, and through our co-agents in Asia.
The team shares a true passion for children’s books and this shines through when we sell our MCB titles around the world. Together, we speak over 10 different languages fluently and every member of the team has lived abroad at some point in their life, gaining a strong understanding of the markets with which they work.
We attend international trade book fairs and take regular sales trips around the world, helping us to maintain relationships with our established partner publishers, as well as building new ones. This approach, when combined with years of licensing experience means we are able to find the perfect home for all our titles in every language.
