Tor snaps up seven superb titles by Adrian Tchaikovsky, master of science fiction and fantasy
Tor UK, an imprint of Pan Macmillan, is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Adrian Tchaikovsky’s highly praised novel Spiderlight plus the novellas Made Things, Elder Race, The Expert System’s Brother and The Expert System’s Champion – plus two more untitled novellas.
Publisher Bella Pagan acquired UK and British Commonwealth rights from Chris Scheina at Tor Books, Macmillan US. These titles, with the exception of the two unnamed titles, have all been published by Tor in the US.

In Spiderlight, a group of adventurers set out to defeat the Lord of the Dark. But it turns out life is far more complicated than light versus dark, as they reconsider everything they thought they knew. In Made Things, a fantasy adventure, a street thief and puppeteer saves her city with the help of magical puppet companions. In the Hugo Award-nominated Elder Race, an anthropologist on a distant planet is mistaken for a wizard – and the local inhabitants expect him to save them from an unbeatable, seemingly demonic, foe. And in the Expert System sequence, a man called Handry wanders a world he barely understands, fighting monsters and building legends with a band of outcasts.

Tor UK are now publishing all titles available so far in ebook, and will bring them out in hardback. Spiderlight and Made Things and will publish in hardback in 2025, in the tenth anniversary year of Tchaikovsky’s award-winning Children of Time. The imprint will then collect Elder Race and its sequel in one volume for the first time, before publishing the three Expert System novellas in one hardback omnibus volume.
