Pan Macmillan is absolutely delighted to announce the acquisition of three new novels by Adrian Tchaikovsky. These form a new far-future science fiction trilogy from the Arthur C. Clarke Award winning author. Editorial Director Bella Pagan acquired world rights from Simon Kavanagh of the Mic Cheetham Agency. And SHARDS OF EARTH and its two sequels will be published under the Tor imprint in the UK. Orbit will publish the trilogy in the United States and the books were bought by senior editor Brit E. B. Hvide.

SHARDS OF EARTH is an extraordinary work of the imagination. We are transported to the far-future, following a war that could have extinguished humanity. For fifty years, space had been silent, the war’s heroes forgotten. Now mankind’s enemy is back, but is someone else forcing their hand? If so who – or what – is this new aggressor?

Idris discovers something strange, abandoned, as his salvage vehicle combs isolated tracts of space. It’s clearly the work of the Architects – but is this foe returning? And if so, why? Hunted by gangsters, cults and governments, Idris and his crew race between the stars, hunting for answers. For they now possess something of incalculable value, and many would kill to own it. This will be a must-read for those who love Peter F. Hamilton, Stephen Baxter and Iain M. Banks

Adrian Tchaikovsky says of the deal:  ‘I am absolutely delighted to launch this new space opera. I had a blast writing the first volume and I’m looking forward to everywhere the series is going to go.’

Bella Pagan commented, ‘Adrian is at the top of his game when it comes telling an incredible story. And this new book will wow his readers. It has all the amazing plotting, wonderful characters and big ideas that we’ve come to love from his work.’

SHARDS OF EARTH will be published in spring 2021. Tchaikovsky’s next book is THE DOORS OF EDEN, publishing on 20th August this year.
