Pan Macmillan to publish Cassandra Clare's first adult fantasy novels
Pan Macmillan plans to publish Sword Catcher in spring 2021.
Pan Macmillan is thrilled to announce the acquisition of two adult Cassandra Clare titles. Pan Macmillan Publisher Jeremy Trevathan, and Editorial Director Bella Pagan, fought off stiff competition to acquire UK and Commonwealth Rights excluding Canada. They brokered the deal with Danny Baror of Baror International. These books will be the author’s first works of adult fantasy fiction, a change from the young adult novels that made her name.

The Sword Catcher books form a dramatic epic of power, intrigue and magic. Here, a boy is born to rule a divided city. A girl is destined to return lost magic to the world. Now based in the US, Cassandra Clare spent her early years traveling around the world with her family and several trunks of fantasy books. She then worked for several years as an entertainment journalist for the Hollywood Reporter, before turning her attention to fiction. Cassandra has written numerous internationally bestselling young adult novels since.
These include the Mortal Instruments series, the Infernal Devices trilogy and she’s currently writing the Dark Artifices series. Cassandra has also co-written books with other authors, including Sarah Rees Brennan and Holly Black.
Pan Macmillan plans to publish Sword Catcher in spring 2021, following Cassandra’s current commitments.
