Children of Time wins the 2016 Arthur C. Clarke Award
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky has been announced as the 30th winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award, the UK’s most prestigious prize for science fiction literature.

Tchaikovsky's story of the last remnants of the human race leaving a dying earth for a terraformed new planet was praised by judges for it's 'epic and yet human scale' and compared to Clarke's own work.
Award director Tom Hunter said:
'Children of Time has a universal scale and sense of wonder reminiscent of the novels of Sir Arthur C. Clarke himself, combined with one of the best science fictional extrapolations of a not-so-alien species and their evolving society I’ve ever read.'
Now in its 30th year, the annual award has previously been won by fellow Pan Macmillan authors China Miéville, Jeff Noon and last year's winner, Emily St. John Mandel.
